Minute to Win It!

On Wednesday Room 11 had Mr Morgan and we did a game which was like Minute To Win It.We all had to get a partner and a marble. Mr Morgan got a tube and a chair.Then he put the tube leaning on a chair and he got someone to demonstrate with him.You and your partner have to choose which one to be, because your partner has to go to the top of the tube and you go behind the chair.Next when your partner puts the marble in your partner says go.Then you have to touch a small thing and go back and catch the marble.Mr Morgan called that game the tube challenge.Room 11 had lots of fun. We graphed the results.

Lamb's at school

Miss McCoubrey's boyfriend came to school today.....oh yeah and he bought some lambs.

STEAM - Balloon Powered Boats

Devontay made a balloon powered boat as part of STEAM.

S.T.E.A.M

This week we began S.T.E.A.M This stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Maths. In STEAM we do lots of practical fun activities. Room 9 learnt about ATTRIBUTES. They made lists of the attributes of swimming flippers and telephones. They then combined these to invent a whole new invention like the "floppywaterproofphone"

Room 9 have now taken a list of attributes needed to create an object that can float and carry a toy across a dangerous river. Just like the real explorers.

If you have an small plastic bottles, pieces of cork, kebab skewers, polystyrene. Please bag it up and drop it off to Mr Morgan before Friday.

Breaking Strain - Room on the Broom

Today we read Room on the Broom and talked about breaking strain. 

We learnt about the Space Elevator. 

This is an elevator that goes all the way into space. It can't be built because of the breaking strain of the metal.

We worked out the breaking strain of the broomstick by estimating the weights of the animals and adding them up

The Learning Pit

Today we talked about the learning pit.

 We noticed that at first it feels like you are falling down a hill when you are trying to learn something new or hard. 

At this time it easy to blame people, distract yourself or destroy your work to avoid the feeling of falling.

However once you hit the bottom and start climbing it gets easier and you start to feel good about things.

Room 11 ans 12 assembly

Well done Room 12 for sorting out the assembly independently without Miss McCoubrey.

House of Bricks Technology Challenge

Anyone for onions?

Room 12 and  11 made some pizza! 

First we put pizza sauce on the base. Then we grated cheese on top of the sauce.
Each group had to decide what to put on the top.
 Sometimes we even had to do fractions because only one person liked onions.

Senior Discovery

On Friday we had some discovery time. We could choose between making balloon cars, salt art, maths art, and other cool activities.
